Where is the Black Dollar going? [page 3]

I witnessed African American stores sitting next to Jewish, Asian, and White business owners and African Americans walking out of the other stores with the same things they could have purchased from their own.

When I was in college I performed a study of Genocide in the Black community. There were very sad statistics involved. The Jewish dollar circulates almost 10 times within the Jewish community before it reaches the outside. The Asian dollar circulates almost 6 times within the Asian community before it reaches the outside. The White dollar, well that is self-explanatory. The African-American dollar does not even circulate one time within its own community.

What point am I trying to make? If you are investing in a store or a company you should patronize what you are investing in. We are missing economic opportunities by not investing our dollars within our own communities and by not investing at all. When the issues arises where a company has insulted or mistreated a patron it is far easier to hurt them financially then to complain about them.

I hear so many times from my people I am trying to give my children what I never had. That is not accomplished through clothes and shoes but by establishing a financial future of investing, savings and education.

I thank all of you that have purchased stocks from Ms. Hughes as a result of my last email, the reply was overwhelming. But I encourage and challenge you to also purchase from the store. Ownership is only the beginning. Support the store that you have put your money into. It can only flourish if you help. Ms. Hughes welcomes suggestions so give the store a call!

The saying goes "It takes a village to raise a child". This is her child, let's help raise it.

Spread the word!!!

Sincerely,

Lenice Martin
