Jewell Jackson McCabe was born in Washington DC, and educated at Bard College. She has received honorary doctorates from Iona and Tugaloo Colleges. She presently serves on many important boards in New York.
She is the founder and chair of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women (NCBW), which was founded in 1981. It began with fourteen states and the District of Columbia in order to meet the personal and professional needs of Black Women and to facilitate their access to mainstream America. Today, NCBW consists of sixty-two chapters in twenty-four states and District of Columbia.
Jewell is also the president of Jewell Jackson McCabe Associates, which is a firm that advices major corporations on issues concerning management and marketing to women and minorities.
