Gloria Dean Randle Scott, Ph. D., is the twelfth president of Bennett College, a Historically Black College for women, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Dr. Scott most notably serves as the second female chief administrator of Bennett College. Her career began in the 60's as a Research Associate in genetics and embryology at Indian University's Institute for Psychiatric Research. She was also an instructor of biology at Marian College.
She became internationally known in the mid 70's when she served as National First Vice President and National President for Girl Scouts USA, where she had also been on the National Board of Directors since 1967. She presently serves as secretary on the Board of Directors of Africa University.
Dr. Scott has been honored as an outstanding American woman on several occasions and has received many awards. She has been featured in magazines such as ESSENCE and received swards such as the Houston Urban League Star Award. Born in Houston Texas, she received her AB and AM degrees in Zoology in 1959 and 1960 respectively.
In 1965, she received her PhD in higher education. She is the recipient of six honorary degrees. Gloria is married to Dr. Will B. Scott, a retired professor of Sociology and Social Work.
