The Manhood Line
Child Support Part II
  • Neither have many women who have decided that their best place is in The home.

  • Nor have many women who are in second marriages to men who are paying child support, but are not having their visitation rights enforced by the courts.

More than a few of these women in the last category--some of them who used to firmly embrace feminism, and feminist ideologies--are watching their men get hurt by the child support system.

Judging by my mail and comments, they are not happy about it. This is where the real backlash against feminism has been brewing for quite some time.

You haven't heard about it, because the mainstream press likes to 'pretend' that this matter does not exist among 'modern' women.

Regardless of the gains some women have made in careers and economic earning, another woman can loom in the background with the weapon of the courts in her hands.

One woman--whether she be an ex-wife, or an ex-girlfriend--can snatch away another woman's financial health--and the financial health, if not liberty, of a man she loves, and has married for better, or worse.

This, under the banner of 'sisterhood', but more times than not, under the heading of 'revenge'.

THE CHILD SUPPORT UNIVERSE IS A SMALL ONE:

Brothers, I'll bet you didn't know these following additional facts about the child support system:

  • During the 1980s, various federal reports showed that many women did not want child support. Thus, the 'universe' of those paying and receiving it, continued to decrease.

It seemed that some divorced parents still maintained an open line of communication and visitation.

Even though the marriage ended, some divorced couples managed to part on the 'up and up', and maintain solid contact with the kids.

  • Also during the eighties, child support collections were divided into welfare cases and non-welfare cases.

However, someone in Congress hit upon the great idea in how to make sure that welfare debts would be paid; merge the two systems.

Thus, those who were not on welfare were allowed to utilize the same enforcement system--at little or no charge -to keep the money flowing. Wage garnishments, once considered to be 'experimental' became a' requirement'.

So did posting arrearages-no mater how small--on one's credit report if they were a non-custodial parent.

  • Thanks to the 'gender blind' legal system, some jurisdictions 'allowed' the inclusion of a second spouse's income in child support calculations.

Thus, should you be blessed to marry again, your new bride would have to subsidize your past failure.
