So Beale Street is not a reflection of the life and times of Black Yesterday. It is the commercial whitenization.
The Black World is not making any money from Beale Street; neither is Black Culture the highlight of Beale Street. W. C. Handy is not the
Centerpiece of Beale Street - Elvis Presley is!
The black business world should be financially profiting from Beale
Street to the tune of 50%; with clubs, cafés, a theater, featuring,
African-American historical and contemporary cinema.
Black entertainment artists should be standard features of the Beale
Street scene, and should be well paid. Every weekend should
hail the coming of a "big name" African American blues artist to
Beale Street. It would also hail the coming of more Blacks to Beale
Street.
